Tiny Telephone
John Vanderslice
Magik*Magik Orchestra

San Francisco's venerable Tiny Telephone studio has been providing affordable hi-fi recording to San Francisco's independent music community for a decade! Come celebrate the occasion at the Great American Music Hall on January 30. John Vanderslice, founder of Tiny Telephone, will perform with The Magik*Magik Orchestra in a 30-piece configuration. Together they will pull favorite tunes from his catalog, and introduce new songs from a forthcoming album currently being recorded at Tiny Telephone.

Special guest DJ Aesop Rock will spin records before and after the performance.

Over the past ten years, JV's analog-centric studio has been a centerpiece of the SF music community. Hundreds of bands have recorded albums there, including Death Cab for Cutie, Deerhoof, The Mountain Goats, Okkervil River, Rogue Wave, Cody Chesnutt, Sun Kill Moon, Two Gallants, etc.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Magik*Magik, the house Orchestra of Tiny Telephone. In the past, the Magik*Magik Orchestra's configuration has ranged from solo performers to a full-fledged, 40-piece orchestra with choir, and recently performed the west-coast premiere of "Popcorn Superhet Receiver", a composition by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, which Greenwood himself attended.
