The Psychedelic Furs were never a psychedelic band at all, but
instead, made their musical mark as a punk-influenced, nouveau Velvet
Underground-style band that eventually found a respectable following
on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
LA-based synth-pop group Berlin made its first national impression
with the provocative single "Sex (I'm A... )" from the
gold-selling debut EP Pleasure Victim in 1982. Berlin topped the
charts in 1986 with the single "Take My Breath Away,"
the love theme from the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun.
