Purveyors of Sinister Whimsy to the Wretched.
One of the most inventive and enduring projects to emerge from the British underground music scene, Nurse With Wound began its existence in 1979 as the trio of Steven Stapleton, John Fothergill and Heman Pathak. After the release of three albums under this configuration the direction of the group was left entirely to Stapleton in 1981, and it has continued as a vehicle for his explorations of recorded (and graphic) media ever since. Now approaching 30 years since the release of the first album, Stapleton's widely-varied catalogue of over 40 albums and numerous EPs continues to grow wider and more varied with each new undertaking. Although some live activity was briefly explored in the mid-1980s, it wasn't until 2005 that Stapleton launched NWW as a fully-formed live entity; the group's multi-media performances have subsequently been given an enthusiastic reception from San Francisco to Moscow.
