What do you get when you put together four first-class musicians with resumes
that include playing/recording with Sting, Steve
Kimock, John McLaughlin, Bela Fleck and Chick
Corea? You get Garaj Mahal. This
amazing 4-piece band consists of Kai Eckhardt
(bass), Fareed Haque (guitars), Alan
Hertz (drums), and Eric Levy (Hammond
B3). Each member of Garaj Mahal is a seasoned artist with reputations worthy
of individual praise. And together, they are receiving it. They have captured
the hearts of jam band lovers across the nation with their ability to draw
out serious shut-up-and-listen type grooves. But their music
doesnt stop there. Their unique blend of funk, jazz, R&B and blues
with a tasty world music flare makes any show with Garaj Mahal something
to see. In the studio and on stage they are gaining the indisputable respect
of many of the music industrys finest leaders. This was clear when
String Cheese Incident asked them to join
their encore at the Greek Theatre this past August. Fresh off their national
tour, Garaj Mahal is bringing their signature sound back to the Bay Area.
For their first headlining appearance at the Great American Music Hall,
they do it with support from the wonderful Sunogal
Ballet, a West-African drum ensemble. Friends dont let friends
miss stuff like this. |
