Opening the Del McCoury Band show is the hardest working bluegrass band in the North Bay, The David Thom Band. David Thom leads the band with his warm voice and hot picking lead guitar, which he hoists high to play into the band's single microphone. He's joined by Jonathan Schiele on five-string banjo and tenor vocals, singer and mandolin picker Jon Mask, Benny Martin-style fiddler Doug Holloway, and Dave Bamberger on bass. Their feel for the sounds of traditional bluegrass have brought them to festivals around the state, including the Strawberry Music Festival (Fall 2001).

"The David Thom Band is a group of young, talented Marin County musicians who play traditional and contemporary bluegrass music with the right attitude...I heartily recommend that you check them out."

- David "Dawg" Grisman
