Boomshanka, a San Francisco funk and blues powerhouse, mixes the elements of funk; jazz, blues and rock to turn out their own free styling jam variety. The septet has been pleasing audiences for two years now, sharing the stage with many greats like The Derek Trucks Band, Les Claypool, the Average White Band, and the legendary John Mayall.

Boomshanka
is not your typical "Jam Band". They don't drift so far off base of the song that the audience forgets where the song came from. Boomshanka experiments musically and jams out to the extent most would like and then returns to the tight playing that was heard a few minutes prior. The band displays their funk, jazz, blues and rock influences from artists such as The Funky Meters, The Allman Brothers, Medeski Martin and Wood, Galactic, James Brown, Maceo Parker John Scofield, Phish and The Grey Boy Allstars. 2001 will see a new full-length album for boomshanka. The yet to be named album is set for release on N M X Records, and is produced by Victor Tieku, guitar player for Fela Kuti, father of Femi Kuti.
